Menominee is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 9,131. It is the county seat of Menominee County6. Menominee Township is located to the north of the city and is politically independent.
Menominee and the neighboring town of Marinette, Wisconsin have a long-running interstate high school football rivalry.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.2 km2 (5.5 mi2). 13.4 km2 (5.2 mi2) of it is land and 0.8 km2 (0.3 mi2) of it is water. The total area is 5.65% water.
